Sobering question for ya:
If things continue for you as they currently are, when will you amass enough money to have the freedom to live your life as you choose… and do whatever it is you want to do?
Anybody ever ask you that before?
I remember expressing to Gary Halbert my complete and utter inability to understand how someone could make millions and have nothing to show for it.
It was only a few years later that I COMPLETELY understood it.
At a VERY personal level.
In spite of how humiliating it is, I’ve never lied to you about my financial problems.
And I’ve had some WHOPPER financial issues.
It wasn’t that long ago (2005) that I lost everything (for the 3rd or 4th time) and had to live in my car.
And I wasn’t a rookie. I was a pretty seasoned entrepreneur and copywriter at that point.
You see, I focused on getting good at MAKING money.
But only until recently, I sucked at KEEPING money.
Maybe you’ve suffered through the same kind of financial problems as me.
Or maybe you’re better off. You have a comfortable job and you’ve been smarter with your money.
Just know this:
You’re never truly FREE as long as you trade time for dollars.
A lot of people work their whole lives looking forward toward the day they can “retire.”
That’s when you finally own your own time.
No longer will you have to suffer that dreaded daily commute.
No longer will you come home so dead tired you end up vegetating in front of the TV before falling off to sleep.
Only to have to do it all over again the next day.
I’ve heard people refer to retirement as “when every day feels like a Saturday.”
But here’s the reality:
It will take at LEAST two to three million stashed away to retire comfortably in the US today.
And that number is multiplying yearly with inflation.
That’s almost an insane amount to save for the average person. Especially when respected investing experts like John Bogle are telling us to prepare for lower stock returns for at least the next 10 years.
Pensions have all but disappeared.
The Social Security trust fund is predicted to run out in 2034. (Social Security Disability is already struggling today.)
According to the US Census Bureau, “80% of Americans age 30 to 54 believe they will not have enough money for retirement.”
Sadly, they’re right.
Most people will be forced to continue at the grindstone for many years past their prime.
Or worse.
Most will have to work until they die.
But it’s not your fault.
They lied to you. Told you that you could achieve your dream of retirement in “the system.”
You can’t. And the sooner you realize that the better.
The good news is this:
You CAN experience freedom while you’re still young enough to enjoy it.
But you have to take control.
