The Colombiana always asks me why Americans have two different days to honor our soldiers.
I always find that question amusing, seeing how almost every Monday or Friday in Colombia is some kind of national holiday. (And that’s only a SLIGHT exaggeration.)
Anyhoo, a lot of Americans confuse Memorial Day and Veterans Day. So as a public service, your pal Doberman Dan will clear up the confusion today.
Memorial Day is a day for honoring military members who died serving their country. Especially those who died in battle or as a result of wounds received in battle.
Veterans Day is the day Americans honor ALL those who served honorably in the military. Either in wartime or peacetime.
While those who died are also remembered, Veterans Day is mostly intended to thank LIVING veterans for their service.
Why am I telling you this?
A couple reasons actually.
Reason #1:
I think it’s stupid to only express your gratitude to someone a couple days a year.
If you appreciate what someone is doing or has done for you, your family or your country… you oughtta express your gratitude frequently.
And tell them while they’re alive for cryin’ out loud.
I’m no expert in these things but I think after somebody’s dead, they’ll be too busy jumping from cloud to cloud, strumming harps and having grapes fed to them to pay any attention to whatever it is you’re babbling about.
(Maybe I’m wrong about that. But you gotta
admit… it’s a beautiful and comforting delusion.)
Reason #2:
I think it’s great to honor people who are willing to fight and die for what they believe.
But you know what’s about a million times more important?
For YOU to have the balls to be willing to fight and die for what YOU believe.
Instead of honoring warriors, BECOME a warrior.
For your dreams.
For your family.
For your posterity.
So today… I invite you to become one of the most chivalrous of warriors…
A knight in the Marketing Camelot.
Because it’s all about preparing you to fight for your dreams.
And equipping you with almost everything you need to do that.
Why “almost?”
Because I can only show you the way… and give you the training you need.
The key ingredient YOU have to supply is this:
The courage to become a warrior for your dreams.
Click here now and prove to BOTH of us that you have it.
Now… jot down today’s date.
So every Memorial Day you can remember and honor the date you made the decision to become a warrior for your dreams.
All the best,
Doberman Dan
