Dear Friend,

I could really use your feedback.

I have fun writing the articles here on DobermanDan.com… but mostly I’ve been writing about whatever tickles my fancy.

So I got to thinking…

I wonder what YOU would like me write about.

Would you be so kind to take a couple minutes and tell me in the comment box below what topics for articles or videos/audios you’d like to see me produce.

Thanks! I really appreciate it.

Al the best,

Why not talk about why you think local business owners should consider online marketing more than ever before..and talk about how fun its going to be when their business grows as more people come online and learn how to have fun making sales copy etc.

I honetly think you have good enough experience about how to start a business online from scratch..and since you are a in the industry of body building..tell us of a great marketing plan!..

Hi D.D.!

I’ve enjoyed all the articles you’ve been posting. Your emails are of the few I read anymore because you provide valuable information and aren’t out to sell me on every email like so many other marketers online. I’m fascinated by your knowledge of direct mail and your stories and learnings from Gary Halbert (I’ve followed Gary for a number of years, but unfortunately never met the “Prince of Print” and “Ravin Maven of Marketing”), so I guess more articles on direct mail and your experiences with Gary. Hope this helps. Once again, thanks for the great content. Louis

Hey Dan,

I do like your protege idea.

Here’s something that would interest me: A copywriting or sales copy contest.

People would post their copy on your blog. readers would vote for the best copy. The person with the highest votes gets you on the phone for a couple hours. Sound good?

But, for everybody that post copy, you will have to give them feedback on the copy. The feedback will have to be visible to everyone. This could be done after there is a winner.

One of my biggest hills to climb is learning great copy writing skills. I master this, I dominate the world!

The other thing I would like to know are the specifics. I.E. Who designs your websites, what help desk software you use, customer service company you outsource to, fullfilment company you use, finding the right list, which mailer to use, type of paper for the sales letter, phone orders and the company you use to take the order, ETC…

I should have bulleted this list. I don’t think posting this information on your blog is a financially sound idea for you, but your protege idea would be a great medium for this.

I left a comment in the protege article about how you can profit more from it, and charge us a little less.

Dan you’re the man!

p.s. looking forward to hearing from you.

P.P.S.

If you use my idea, I think I deserve a couple hours on the phone picking your brain, and a long sales copy for a new software product that I will be launching. Please :)

Dan,

I’d love to know how you organize your day, keep your attention focused amidst distractions of working from home (I assume you work from home), and basically maximize your productivity.

Oh, yeah, and more great direct marketing content is always appreciated.

And, as a guitarist myself, a little jazz guitar lesson would be appreciated, too. :-)

I appreciate you, man.

Thanks,

- John

Dan,

For me personally, I would like to see a inexpensive course ( Book and audios) and then work your way up to a 2000.00 protege program. I’m sure you’ll get takers for the protege and it’s a good way to get a quick influx of cash but you’ll probably get more course buyers that would upgrade to the protege. Just my opinion…:)

Dan,

As I mentioned to you earlier, an Adwords tutorial as it relates to testing for a potential two-step campaign for print and direct mail would be stellar.

A little twist on Dave’s comment above: writing sales copy. I’m not crazy about sales letters (or, more accurately for online sales, sales pages) and my mind just doesn’t click that way. Examples would be a big help, possibly sales copy you’ve written. Break them down bit by bit with the what, how and why.

In all the “programs” and “systems” I’ve seen (and even the ones I paid for) this seems to get glossed over; they just say “write a great sales letter” without saying how to do it.

Like your style, Dan. Also like your dog:-) I used to work with retired greyhounds and had three at one time. Distant cousin to the Dobie.

Forgot to mention, Dan, that your subscribe link at the top of the page doesn’t seem to work. I get an error message and a page full of code.

Hi Dan,

I’d enjoy reading a critique of an offline sales letter that pulled well for you.

Thanks.

I would really be interested in knowing some more detailed information about selling supplements via direct mail.

What are the biggest pitfalls to watch out for?

Copy approaches that avoid making claims but is still really effective.

Picking health supplement buyer lists.

What format to use when mailing (postcards, letters, catalogues, magalogues).

Stuff like that would be cool.

@SH

I’m looking into the supplement industry also. I’m looking at different ways to make my self different than everybody else.

I remember a few years back a company did a great promotion that really put their products and business on the map. Great promotion

“I would really be interested in knowing some more detailed information about selling supplements via direct mail.”

I’m also interested in the above.

I bought supplement millions course a while ago and I’m in the process of trying to get some affiliate offers to convert before I take it to the next level but I think you’d have a wealth of info on that subject.

What is the best way not to lose your shirt rolling out a postcard program especially if you only have “one” shirt?

More of what you’ve been putting up.

I found the post where we guessed why it bombed to be particularly enlightening, and love going through sales letters relative to the list and dissecting failures.

And anything dealing with list buying, media buying.

Hi Dan,

For me, it is figuring out how to get unstuck.

Health,$ issues, making hard to find path out of repetitive failures.
So, you could help me the most with Mindset info.

Thanks Dobie :) ,
Jay

What I’d like to know more of that no one else online is talking about is OFFLINE marketing. Print ads, post cards, flyers, etc.

Dave October 3, 2009 at 12:39 am

@Jay

I was stuck and my mind was really messed up after a business with some crooked partners went up in flames.

Lookup Dr. Wayne Dyer and read all his books. I’m not kidding! it will change your life.

I wouldn’t think of starting a business without reading his books. I’m currently reading “Excuses Begone”

I know how frustrating it is when your in a slump.

Cheers,

Dave

Thanks for asking.

How do I attract local business owners to a seminar where I can sell them the advantages of an online presence.

Reply

Brad October 4, 2009 at 9:55 am

Did you attend Gary Bencievenga’s retirement seminar for $5,000?
If not, do you know someone who has? If so, did they give you a summary of what they learned? Are the DVDS really worth $5,000?

If a copywriter does not buy the DVDS, will he or she be at a serious disadvantage when going up against a writer who has them?

Is some, most or all of the info available anywhere else?

Can one get the same or better information by purchasing Clayton’s , Carlton’s or Gary’s materials?

Can you recommend anything that comes close to these DVDS?

Best Regards, Brad

Good stuff, everybody. Thanks for sharing.

I’m going to address each person’s questions & suggestions. Since it will take a lot of description I think I’ll do an audio or video. It would take me FOREVER to write a response to all these ideas.

Thanks again for contributing!

Best,
Dan
