Doberman Dan’s Christmas Wish

by admin on December 24, 2009

Christmas Eve 2009, 1:33 PM
Location: Cali, Colombia

Dear Friend,

I’m celebrating Christmas in South America this year.

If you’re on my e-mail list you also know about the other little secret that brought me down here.

(If you’re not on the e-mail list you missed out on some pretty big news… and a very valuable life lesson.)

Over the past couple days, I’ve had the opportunity to hang out with Yuri Buenaventura, a Salsa singer and composer, quite famous here in Latin America and Europe.

The other night I had the pleasure of seeing his concert here in Cali.

Wow! What a high powered show!

After the show, I asked him to autograph his latest CD for me.

He  said, “You’re my brother. How can I sign an autograph my own brother?”

See, I shared the same story with Yuri that I shared with the subscribers on my e-mail list.

It really touched him.

With tears in his eyes he said, “People always share the good… never the bad. But your story really proves that love truly conquers all.”

So on his CD he wrote…

“Amor…. Amor… Amor… Siempre Amor!”

Which in English means… Love… love… love… always love.

And THAT is my Christmas wish this year…

That YOU, my dear subscriber, will always have “Amor… amor… amor… siempre amor.”

Ya wanna know something?

I’m not as tough as I appear to be in my articles.

Truth be told… I’m a bit of a “softie”.  And this old softie wishes he could “love on ya” a little bit.

I’d like to put my arm around you and tell you how much I appreciate you…

… Look you in the eyes and tell you how special I think you are…

… And tell you that no matter how much you’ve been beaten down this year, I still believe in you.

Always have.

I know beyond a shadow of a doubt you can pick yourself up, dust yourself off, start all over again and do great things in 2010.

As long as there’s breath in your lungs… you can.

Whatever holiday you celebrate this time of year, I wish you… “Amor… amor… amor… siempre amor.”

And a prosperous 2010.

All the best,
dobedansig_sm12

Dan,
I don’t know who wrote the song you paraphrased but it’s a Golden Oldie – I just heard Natalie Cole singing it the other day.

Great things in 2010? Yep, I plan to “retire” to south of the border in the coming year. Somewhere where 30 degrees at Christmas is measured in Celsius, not Fahrenheit. And a time when “working for the man” means working for THIS man, not some idiot whose business philosophy is squeezing the life out of his employees so he can live high on the hog. The work I do I’d gladly do for free if I could.

I think it’s great that you have the opportunity to spend time and get married in Colombia. I wish I could do the same in Peru with mi esposa peruana, but travel from Seattle to Lima isn’t in the current budget.

Feliz Navidad, Dan.

Hi Dan,

Cali is a great place to spend Christmas with your new bride.

The best to you both and this tough guy had tears while reading your blog.

“Amor… amor… amor… siempre amor” to you and your wife,

Medreth
